when the boat moves along the flow of water, then downstream speed= u+v
when the boat moves against the flow of water, upstream speed=u-v
u+v=s/t=300/5 km/h
u-v=150/5 km/h by solving them, we get the speed of boat in still water u=45km/h
and speed of stream v=15km/h
