The equation for the reaction is: N2 + 3H2-------> 2NH3

So, 1 volume of N2 reacts with 3 volumes of H2 to give 2 volumes of ammonia

Given, 50 L of N2 and 10 L of H2 are mixed at NTP to produce NH3.

1 mole of any gas at NTP has volume 22.4 litres.

So, 50/22.4 moles of N2 and 10/22.4 moles of H2 react together.

2.232 moles of N2 and 0.446 moles of H2 react together at NTP to give NH3.

Assuming N2 reacts completely.

So, 1 volume is equal to 2.232 moles, hence, 3 X 2.232= 6.696 moles of H2 will be needed for 2.232 moles of N2 to react completely.

Hence, Nitrogen is present in excess.

Hence, Hydrogen gas is the limiting reagent here.

So, 3 volumes is equal to 0.446 moles.

1 volume= 0.446/3 => 0.149 moles (approx.)

So, 2 volumes of NH3 = 2 X 0.149 moles =>0.298 moles of NH3.

=> 0.298 X 22.4 litres of NH3 => 6.6752 litres of NH3

=>6.6752 litres of NH3 is formed  at NTP conditions.
