Given :-

  • Two tanks contain 504 and 735 litres of milk.

Have to Find :-

  • Find the capacity of a container.

Solution :-

In order to find the maximum Capacity we find the H.C.F of it :-

★ HCF of 504 and 735

Prime factors of it :-

504 = (2³ × 3² × 7)

= ( 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 7 )

735 = (5 × 3 × 7²)

= ( 5 × 3 × 7 × 7 )

Thefore , The HCF ( 504 , 735 ) :-

3 × 7 = 21

Capacity of the container is 21 litres

★ What is H.C.F ?

Highest Common Factor

  • The highest common factor is found by multiplying all the factors which appear in both number lists.

For Example :- The HCF of 60 and 72

60 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 5

72 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3

So , HCF of ( 60 , 72 )

↬ 2 × 2 × 3 which is 12.

★ What is L.C.M ?

Lowest Common Multiple

  • The lowest common multiple is found by multiplying all the factors which appear in either list.

For Example :- The LCM of 60 and 72

60 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 5

72 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3

So , LCM of ( 60 , 72 )

↬ 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 5 which is 360.
