EXPLANATION.

(1) = 4x² - 4x + 1.

As we know that,

Factorizes the equation into middle term splits, we get.

⇒ 4x² - 4x + 1 = 0.

⇒ 4x² - 2x - 2x + 1 = 0.

⇒ 2x(2x - 1) - 1(2x - 1) = 0.

⇒ (2x - 1)(2x - 1) = 0.

⇒ (2x - 1)² = 0.

⇒ 2x - 1 = 0.

⇒ 2x = 1.

⇒ x = 1/2.

(2) = x² + 7x + 10.

As we know that,

Factorizes the equation into middle term splits, we get.

⇒ x² + 7x + 10 = 0.

⇒ x² + 5x + 2x + 10 = 0.

⇒ x(x + 5) + 2(x + 5) = 0.

⇒ (x + 2)(x + 5) = 0.

⇒ x = - 2 and x = - 5.
