Given:

A rectangle CALM.

CA = 4cm.

AL = 3cm.

To Find:

CL and AM.

Solution:

Since CALM is a rectangle, all the angles are right angles.

Also, opposite sides are equal.

⇒ AC = ML = 4cm.

⇒ MC = AL = 3cm.

In ΔMCA,

∠MCA = 90°

By using Pythagoras theorem,

AM² = MC² + AC²

AM² = (3)² + (4)²

AM² = 9 + 16

AM² = 25

AM = √25

AM = 5cm.

Therefore AM is equal to 5cm.

We know that diagonals in a rectangle are equal to each other, and AM and CL are diagonals.

AM = CL = 5cm.
