Given:
A rectangle CALM.
CA = 4cm.
AL = 3cm.
To Find:
CL and AM.
Solution:
Since CALM is a rectangle, all the angles are right angles.
Also, opposite sides are equal.
⇒ AC = ML = 4cm.
⇒ MC = AL = 3cm.
In ΔMCA,
∠MCA = 90°
By using Pythagoras theorem,
AM² = MC² + AC²
AM² = (3)² + (4)²
AM² = 9 + 16
AM² = 25
AM = √25
AM = 5cm.
Therefore AM is equal to 5cm.
We know that diagonals in a rectangle are equal to each other, and AM and CL are diagonals.
∴ AM = CL = 5cm.
