Do you mean the "Reign of Terror"? Ok, so the period from 1793-1794 in France is referred to as the Reign of Terror. Maximilian Robespierrem who was the head of the republic in France, followed an extremely strict and stringent policy of control and punishment. All those whom he perceived as being enemies of the Republic i.e. ex-nobles and clergy, members of other political parties and even the members of his own party who were not enthusiastic about or who disagreed with his methods and policies - were arrested, imprisoned and then tried by a revolutionary tribunal. If the court found them guilty, they were guillotined. The guillotine is a device consisting of 2 poles and a blade with which a person is beheaded.
Robespierre sought to bring about equality among his people and devised many such rules to bring about this change. His government placed a maximum limit on wages and prices and meat and bread were rationed. Peasants were forced to transport their grain to the cities and sell them at prices fixed by the govt. No one could use the expensive white flour; everyone had to eat the equality bread, which was a loaf made of wholewheat. Feudal address was abolished and all French men and women were henceforth called Citoyen & Citoyenne (Citizen) instead of the traditional Monsieur and Madame. Churches were shut down and their buildings were converted into barracks and offices.
