2CH3OH + 2Na gives   2CH3ONa + H2

methanol + sodium gives sodium methoxide and hydrogen

CH3CH2OH + 3O2  gives   2CO2 +  3H2O

ethanol burns in oxygen to produce carbon di oxide and water

CR2=CR2 + H2 gives  CR2H-CR2H

hydrogenation reaction
