In the human world this would be considered ‘waste’ and would be bagged to go to a landfill. Not so with Nature - the soil welcomes its once-a-year feeding each autumn and sets breaking down the leaves to nourish itself. It is really interesting to observe, how in Nature “one organism’s waste is another’s feast”.
