\bigstar Question:

  • Factorise ( y² + 2y - 3)

\bigstar Solution:

Here,

\rightarrow ( y² + 2y - 3)

( Product = (-3) , Sum = 2y. So the numbers are (+3 ) and (-1))

\rightarrow ( y² + 3y - y - 3)

\rightarrow y ( y + 3 ) -1 ( y + 3 )

( By taking ( y + 3 ) common )

\rightarrow ( y + 3 ) ( y - 1 )

\bigstar Answer:

  • Therefore, the answer is (y + 3) (y - 1) and henceforth option (a) ( y - 1 ) ( y + 3 ) is correct.
