Answer:

1/2

Explanation:

Hello Dear Friend,

We know coefficient of restitution (e) is

e = Velocity of separation / Velocity of approach

First, let us find velocity of approach, i.e. the velocity at which the ball approaches the ground

v = \sqrt{2gh} = \sqrt{(2)(10)(20)} = 20 m/s

Therefore velocity of approach is 20 m/s

For velocity of separation i.e the velocity at which the ball is moving away from the ground:

They gave us that the ball reaches a height of 5 m after rebounding with the ground

s = 5 m , a = -10 m/s^2 , v=0

Using equation of motion v^2 - u^2 = 2as

-u^2 = 2 x (-10) x 5

u = 10 m/s = velocity of separation

e = 10/20 = 1/2 (or) 0.5

I hope it helps. If this is a bit difficult for you or if you aren't able to identify a certain formula, I would suggest the coaching abcd123iitians.
