To find the parallel resistance:

1/Rₐ=1/2+1/6

1/Rₐ=3/6+1/6

1/Rₐ=4/6

1/Rₐ=2/3

Rₐ=3/2

Rₐ=1.5Ω.

NOW, we add the resistance:

Rₓ=10+(total resistance of 2 and 6Ω resistors.)

we know that total resistance of 2 and 6Ω resistors is 1.5Ω (calculated above)

Rₓ=10+1.5

Rₓ=11.5Ω.
