There is a room with 4 walls and 1 ceiling, floor can't be whitewashed so it will not be counted. Therefore area for whitewashing is the sum of area of four walls and area of ceiling.

Area of four walls = 2( length + breadth ) × hieght

Area of four walls = 2( 50 m + 40 m ) × 10 m

Area of four walls = 2( 90 m ) × 10 m

Area of four walls = 2 × 90 × 10 × m × m

Area of four walls = 1800 m²

Then,
Ceiling is in the shape of rectangle therefore the area of ceiling will be ( length × breadth )

Area of ceiling = length × breadth

Area of ceiling = 50 m × 40 m

Area of ceiling = 50 × 40 × m × m

Area of ceiling = 2000 m²

Hence,
Area to be whitewashed = 1800 m² + 2000 m²

Area to be whitewashed = 3800 m²

Therefore,
Cost of whitewashing = Rate at area will be whitewashed × Area to be whitewashed

Cost of whitewashing = Rs 20 / m² × 3800 m²

Cost of whitewashing = Rs 76000
