Sum of there expenditure = 16 + 17 + 21 = 54

So mean = 54 / 3 = 18

If expenditure is triple = 54 × 3 =162

= 162 / 3 = 54

If hotel manager give 50 discount or there spend is 54 - 54 × 50/100 = 27

So average = 27/3 = 9

Relationship : If expenditure is change by k times mean will also change by k times.

 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 \\  = 55

So average = 55 / 10 = 5.5
