siril: As we move down the group and from right to left in a period, metallic nature increases
siril: considering the above statement, magnesium is at the top right relative to others, and hence shows lesser metallic character and thus is able to form covalent compounds
shreya833: thanks

calcium has tendency to form co valent bound

shreya833: it forms a covalent compound
shreya833: I guess so
TheConqueror: wait..
TheConqueror: let me confirm it
shreya833: sure...
TheConqueror: shreya u r right its Mg
TheConqueror: thanx for clearing my doubt....
shreya833: no issues...

Elements having non-metal in nature and almost equal electronegativity got the tendency to form a covalent bond with their own. Also if the difference in electronegativity is less than 1.7 then covalent bonds are formed.
the difference between Mg and C is 1.241.24 a very polar covalent bond.
So Mg is the right answer.
