Answer:

In multicellular organisms such as man, the volume of the human body is big and hence, oxygen cannot diffuse into all the cells of the human body quickly.  Hence, diffusion is insufficient to meet the oxygen requirements of multicellular organisms like humans.

Answer:

There are three main specific reasons for why diffusion is insufficient for high-order multicellular organisms to intake food as follows:

  1. In multi-cellular organisms,  all the cells may not be in direct contact with the surrounding  environment so as to allow intake of food through diffusion.
  2. Energy requirements are comparatively high in multicellular organisms than simpler unicellular organisms. Thus, a simple process like diffusion wouldn't be sufficient to meet the energy requirements of complex multicellular organisms.
  3. Diffusion being a very slow process in which molecules transfer from higher concentration to lower concentration, is not sufficient for transportation of substances in complex multicellular organisms.

Hope you got the respective reasons.

Thank You.
