Question:

Solve:

1. \sf \dfrac{x+3}{2x-5} = \dfrac{3}{2}

2. \sf \dfrac{5y-2}{2y+8} = \dfrac{5}{6}

Solution:

1. \bf \dfrac{x+3}{2x-5} = \dfrac{3}{2}

\implies \sf 2(x+3) = 3(2x-5)

\implies \sf 2x+6 = 6x-15

\implies \sf 2x-6x = -15-6

\implies \sf -4x = -21

\implies \sf x = \dfrac{21}{4}

2. \bf \dfrac{5y-2}{2y+8} = \dfrac{5}{6}

\implies \sf 6(5y-12) = 10yb+ 40

\implies \sf 30y - 12 = 10y + 40

\implies \sf 30y - 10y = 40 + 12

\implies \sf 20y = 52

\implies \sf y = \dfrac{13}{5}
