Draw the complete structural formula of the compound first.

Here, 3 methyl groups are attached to one carbon, and on the other side a hydroxyl group is attached.

So, the structural formula of the compound will be,

           CH3

H3C³—C²—OH

            |

           C¹H3

The longest carbon chain consists of 3 carbon atoms, so the root word is prop. The numbering is done so that the hydroxyl group gets lowest number. Hydroxyl group is attached to the second carbon, so suffix is 2-ol .

The methyl group is attached to the second carbon atom, so 2-Methyl is the prefix.

Only carbon-carbon single bonds are present, which  is shown by -an-2-ol .

So, the complete IUPAC name will be 2-Methylpropan-2-ol

So, the correct option is (A).
