Hey mate!

Let the number be x.

Now, according to question..

 \frac{(x - 18)}{3} = \frac{ (- 4)}{1} \\ \\ x - 18 = - 4 \times 3 \\ \\ x - 18 = - 12 \\ x = - 12 + 18 \\ x = 6

Now, let's check the result, substitute the value of x = 6 in the above equation..

 \frac{x - 18}{3} = - 4 \\ \\ \frac{6 -18 }{3} = - 4 \\ \\ \frac{ - 12}{3} = - 4 \\ \\ - 4 = - 4

Yeah..we got it..so the number is 6.

HOPE IT HELPS!
