BD^2=AD^2-AB^2

BD^2=20^2-12^2

BD^2=400-144

BD^2=256

BD=√256

BD=16

now,

x+x=16

2x=16

x=8,8

BM=MD=8

now, again using Pythagoras theorm,we get

BC^2=BM^2+MC^2

y^2=8^2+15^2

y^2=64+225

y^2=289

y=√289

y=17
