  • BE and DE represent the ladder
  • AB and CD represent height of window

Find:-

  • width of street??

Solution:-

In Δ BAE ∠ A = 90° , AB = 9m , BE = 15m

By Pythagoras theorm:-

AE²+AB²=BE²

↪AE²+9² = 15²

↪AE²=15²-9²

↪225-81 = AE²

↪AE²=144

↪AE = √144

↪AE = 12

Similarly, in Δ DCE, ∠C = 90°, DE = 15cm, CD = 12cm

By Pythagoras theorm:-

CE² +12²=15²

CE²=15²-12²

CE²=225-144

CE²=81

CE = √81

CE = 9

Width of street :-

CE +AE = 9+12 = 21m
