Answer:

The answer would be (a) 4.5m/s

Explanation:

Applying law of conservation of linear momentum(p):-

Initial p= final (p)

m1u1 + m2u2= m1v1 + m2v2

2(6)+ 3(-4) = 2(v)+ 3(3)

0= 2v +9

v= 9/2 =4.5m/s

P.S. acc to ques the masses travel towards each other, hence velocity of one of them has to be negative.

Hope it helps ya:)

Answer:

a) 4.5

Explanation:

We can solve this by using the law of conservation of momentum:

m_{1}= 2 kg

m_2 =\\ 3 kg

u_1 = 6 m/s

u_2 = -4 m/s

v_1 = ??

v_2 = 3 m/s

m_1u_1+m_2u_2=m_1v_1+m_2v_2

(2*6)+ (3*-4) = 2v_1 + 3*3

12-12= 2v_1 + 9

0 = 2v_1 + 9

-9 = 2v_1

v_1 = -9/2

v_1 = 4.5 KGM/S

THEREFORE YOUR ANSWER IS A
