When there is a functional group containing Carbon (e.g.Aldehyde,Carboxylic Acid), the numbering of the main chain is started from that Functional group Carbon atom, hence the numbering of the main chain in the given question starts from the aldehyde Carbon and the nomenclature is done accordingly..
