Area of path =

Area if larger rectangle - Area of smaller rectangle.

Smaller rectangle

Length = 125m

Breadth = 65m

Larger Rectangle

3m wide path runs outside around the smaller rectangle.

So,

Length of larger rectangle =

Length of smaller rectangle + 2*3

= 125 + 6 = 131m

Breadth of larger rectangle =

Breadth of smaller rectangle +2*3

= 65 + 6 = 71m

Therefore: Length = 131m, Breadth = 71m

Area of smaller rectangle = l*b

= 125*65 = 8125m^2

Area of larger rectangle = l*b

= 131*71 = 9301m^2

Area of path =

Area if larger rectangle - Area of smaller rectangle.

= 9301 - 8125 = 1176m^2
