1) There are a few processes for getting cotton from plant . 1) The cotton balls are separated from cotton fibre by ginning . 2) The fibre is converted into yarn by spinning on charkha or takli . 3) The yarn is converted into fabric by waving or knitting.

2)The process of making yarn from fibres is called spinning. In this process fibres from a mass of cotton wool are drawn out and twisted. By this fibres come together to form a yarn. Spinning can be done by hand, by takli and charkha.

3)Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth.

4)There is a huge difference between hand loom and powerloom:-

Handloom

  1. It uses mechanical energy in order for a fabric to get woven and come into its final form. Two peddle sets are present for the weaver to operate.
  2. hand loom are made of wooden frame and needs special attention in order to weave different patterns.
  3. the work in hand loom is done manually so you can easily alter the designs and patterns as per your choice.

Powerloom

  1. power loom uses electric energy to weave and requires one time operation.

  3. the power looms are driven by steam engine and are more effective and faster.

5) Knitting is a process of using long needles to interlink or knot a series of loops made by one continuous thread. Each loop or knot connects to another one, and when enough loops have been made, the result is a flat piece of material called a textile.
