here, it is given that (x+3) is a factor of x²+7x+k =0

So, zero of (x+3) must be the value of x in the given equation, i.e (-3) would be the value of x in the given equation

x²+7x+k = 0

So, putting value of x i.e, (-3) in the given equation, we get

x²+7x+k = 0

(-3)²+7(-3)+k = 0

(9)+(-21)+k = 0

9 - 21 + k = 0

-12 + k = 0

k = 12

therefore, value of k = 12

hence, option a) is correct.
