on doubling the wire, its length becomes half and its cross-section are becomes double.
if original resistance: R = (rho x l) /A
new resistance = R' = (rho x l/2)/2A = 1/4 R = 1
if original resistance: R = (rho x l) /A
new resistance = R' = (rho x l/2)/2A = 1/4 R = 1

Becoz when the write is double the resistance also increase
So when the wire is doublded then 4*2= 8
