ɢɪᴠᴇɴ:

  • x and y are two non zero, unequal rational numbers.

ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ:

  • The correct options between them.
  1. x+y/y+x
  2. xy/yx
  3. x/y ÷ y/x
  4. x-y/y - x

ᴀɴsᴡᴇʀ:

Let us see each Option separately

a) x + y / y + x

Now here in numerator it is x + y and in denominator it is y + x , which can also be written as x + y .Since both numerator and denominator are same hence on dividing them the result will be 1.

b) xy/yx

Now here in numerator it is xy and in denominator it is y x , which can also be written as x y .Since both numerator and denominator are same hence on dividing them the result will be 1.

c) x/y ÷ y/x

It can be written as x/y × x/y = x²/y² .This value can be equal to 1 if and only if x² = y² But in the question it is mentioned x ≠ y . Hence it can't be equal to 1.

d) x-y/y-x .

Here x-y/y-x can be written as x - y / -(x - y) = 1/ -1

= -1 , which is not equal to 1 . Hence x-y/y-x ≠ 0.
