Explanation:

power of a bulb is given by p=v²/R → R=V²/P

hence for two bulb we get

R1=V²/P1 and R2=V²/P2

Now as these two bulbs are conneccted in series, their equivalent resistance will be given by:

Req = R1+R2

=V²/P1 +V²/P2

(We are putting the values of R1 and R2)

Now the equivalent power consumption will be given by:

Peq = V²/Req

= V²÷V²/P1+V²/P2

= P1 ×P2÷ P1+P2
