a + ib = \frac{c {}^{2} + i {}^{2}  + 2ci  }{c {}^{2} + i {}^{2}  }  \\ a + ib = \frac{c {}^{2} - 1 + 2ci }{c {}^{2}  - 1}  \\ a + ib =1 +  \frac{2c}{c {}^{2} - 1 } i

On comparison

a = 1

b = 2c / c² – 1
