sugar and salt are soluble in water wherears some solids like chalk powder and sand are not soluble in water we can understand it by an diagram -

step 1 - take 3 test tube dilled them half with water and name them tube 1 , 2 , 3 and 4

step 2 - now put salt in test tube 1 sugar in test tube 2 sand in test tube 3 and chalk powder in test tubw 4 and mix it well

observation - you will see that salt and sugar are soluble in water whereas sand and chalk powder are insoluble in water

1. The substance that are soluble in water are called soluble substance.

2. The substance that are insoluble in water are called insoluble substances.
