people who did not form part of the agrarian or industrial society become to be known as the tribal in Hindi they are called adivassi by combining of two words adi means from old times and vasi which means inhabitants
they believed in Living off the land and traded for some necessities by barter system

some of them started working as labour in the village and township they made good load bearers some took on work as peasants in the village and started working for land owners or zamindar the areas are whole of Madhya Pradesh Chattisgarh and Odissa south Bihar North East their religious practice were different from those of Hindus Christians and Islam's
