1)in series,the equivalent resistance of various resistors is equal to the sum of their individual resistances i.e.Rs=R1+R2+R3.....
2)current is measured through ammeter
3)potential difference varies in each resistor but the current is same
1) in parallel the equivalent resistance is given by taking the reciprocals of resistors,i.e.1/R1+1/R2+1/R3...
2)current is measured through voltmeter
3) potential difference is same but the current varies
