1. Sound needs a medium to travel. Vacuum doesn't provide one.

2. Same way if the medium with more number of particles can propagate sound much faster with lesser number of particles. Thus, sound travel faster in solids than liquids.

3. Room heaters have polished reflectors because bright ,polished reflectors reflect heat more efficiently and hence more heat is generated in front of the heater ,at the same time since they reflect heat the appliance or the unit is saved from getting heated or catching fire.

4. The air is a bad conductor of heat. The film of air serves as an additional protective layer.

5. The length of vocal cords of women and men are different. A man's vocal chords are about 5 millimeters longer than a woman's vocal chords. Thus, as the frequency of sound is higher, women have shriller voices than men.
