The cycle's rims and handles would have been galvanised or has a stainless steel coating.If it is scratched,then it'll start rusting because stainless steel layer is broken.

Because its not used till then.. It has brass coating which makes it shiny... Also it prevents rusting of the iron... If it gets s ratched then the iron will get exposed to air and water.. It will start to rust... Hope it helps
