When a body falls from a height no external non conservative force acts on it.

The only force acting on it is the force due to gravity and it is conservative.

As we know that when no external non conservative force acts on a body total mechanical energy of a body is conserved.

In this case , the potential energy is being converted to kinetic energy as the body falls down but the total mechanical energy is conserved.
