Less active metals like iron or zinc cannot displace hydrogen from water but do readily react with acids...

1..because metals is more reactive then hydrogen .. in reactivity series. u will get some metal .like. .na mg Al are more reactive the hydrogen .. so . ..

2 .. actually .. see when u will react water with some metal . wt u will get .. u will see that metal is oxidise further .. hydrogen .. is reduced it happens .. because. reduction potential ..

hence. both the upper reason .. tells why .. it happens ..
