P1 = P2     by Pascal's Law  (the pressure in a fluid in a closed container is transmitted equally to all parts of the container)

F1 = P1 A1     the force on the smaller piston  (since P = F / A)

P1 = F1 / A1 = F2 / A2      by Pascal's Law

F1 = F2 * (A1 / A2)

F1 = 1152 N * (6 cm^2 / 576 cm^2) = 12 N

The assumption must be the hydraulic machine must be a closed

container so that Pascal's Law is applicable.
