THE RACE
Once upon a time there was a tortoise walking along a road. Not long after, he was spotted by a hare who was coming in from the opposite direction. Seeing the speed of the tortoise, the egoistic hare couldn't help but laugh. In order to prove he was far better than the tortoise, he bet him to a race. On the day of the race, everyone was sure the hare would win. The race started and the hare immediately zoomed off while the tortoise slowly but steadily started his journey. As the hare had already covered more than half the distance, he decided to take a short nap. He thought to himself that after his nap he would complete the race and easily beat the slow tortoise. While the hare snoozed under the shade of a nearby tree, he didn't realize that the tortoise had passed him. It wasn't long before the tortoise completed the race and finally won the bet. When the hare woke up and heard the cheering, he couldn't believe that the tortoise had one. Sulking, the hare learnt an extremely important lesson that day - slow and steady wins the race.
Moral of the story - It isn't about how talented we are at a particular thing, but it is the effort and determination that we put into achieving it that counts.
THE DEED
One day, a bee was hovering over a pond when suddenly a strong gust of wind thrust him into the water. Almost drowning, the bee desperately called for help. A nearby dove saw the poor bee and decided to help it. Plucking a leaf from the tree, it threw it into the water in order to save the bee. The bee immediately climbs the leaf, gasping for breath, as it gratefully flies off. A few days passed and both the bee and on continued on with their lives. However, on that particular day a hunter had come to the forest. Laying his eyes on the dove he decided to kill it. Aiming his gun at the unsuspecting dove he was about to shoot. That's when the bee saw the scene unfold before his eyes and determined to save the dove, stung the hunter. The hunter shouted in pain and the dove was alerted of the threat. Seeing the hunter, the dove was able to fly away unharmed.
Moral of the story - We should always help a person in need because every good deed we do is repaid to us eventually when we need it the most.
