given ,
external diameter of sphere = 24 cm
so, external radius of sphere = 12 cm

spherical shell is melted and recast in cylindrical shell shape which height is 10cm , diameter of shell is 8 cm .

hence ,

volume of spherical shell = volume of cylinder
4/3 pi. { (R^3 - r^3 } = pi. r "^2 .h
4/3 { (12)^3 - r^3 } =(8/2)^2 x 10
4/3 {1728- r^3 } = 160
1728 - r^3 = 160 x 3/4 = 120
r^3 = 1728 - 120
r^3 =1608 = 8 x 201
take cube root both side

r= (8 x 201)^1/3
=2 (201)^1/3

given (201)^1/3 = 5.9
use this

r= 2 x 5.9 = 11.8 cm
hence internal diameter = 2 x 11.8
= 23.6cm
