61) The controls affecting the climate of India are :
a) Latitude : The climate varies from equator to poles.Due to the curvature shape of the Earth, the temperature varies per latitude as it depends on the amount of solar energy received by that place. The Tropic Of Cancer divides India into tropical and subtropical climatic zone.
b) Altitude : The temperature decreases as one goes higher and higher as the atmosphere at higher altitudes is less dense than it is at lower altitudes.India face mild winters due to presence of Himalayas that prevent the entry of cold winds from Central Asia.
c) Distance from Sea : Kanyakumari faces moderate climate as it is close to sea.It is neither too hot in summers nor too cold in winters at Kanyakumari. Delhi is far away from the sea.It faces continental climate that means too hot in summers and too cold in winters.
