Next higher homologue of CH3CH2OH (Ethanol or ethyl alcohol) is CH3CH2CH2OH (Propanol or propyl alcohol) and of HCOOH (Methanoic acid or formic acid) is CH3COOH (Ethanoic acid or acetic acid).
