to solve this kind of questions, you need to manipulate the euation such that you get the desired factors.
given:
x³-3x²-10x+24 (try to take x-2 common like shown)
=x³-2x²-x+2x-12x+24
=x²(x-2)-1x(x-2)-12(x-2)
=(x-2)(x²-x-12) (now you get a factor and a factorizable quadratic equation.
=(x-2)(x²-4x+3x-12)
=(x-2)(x-4)(x+3) (you got the factors!)
