Calorific value of a fuel can be defined as the amount of heat  when one kilograms of fuel is completely burnt in sufficient supply of oxygen   Given Calorific value of wood=20000kj/kg  Amount of fuel =8kg  We know that  Calorific value=Heat produced /                             Amount of fuel  =20000kj/kg=Heat produced/8kg  =20000kj/kg×8kg =Heat produced   =160000kj=Heat produced

the amount of heat energy produced on burning 1 kg if a fuel completely in pure oxygen is known as calorific value of that fuel
calorific value of wood =20000kj/kg
on burning 8 kg of it =(20000×8)=160000kj
