STEP BY STEP EXPLANATION:

Area of shaded region = Area of Rectangle - Area of 2triangles

Area of Rectangle = L×B  = 40 \times 20 = 800 {cm}^{2}

Similarly, Area of triangle = 1/2 × Base × Height

 =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 20 \times 10 = 100 {cm}^{2}

But we have 2 traingles so,

 = 2 \times 100 = 200 {cm}^{2}

Now, put all the value in formula

 = 800 - 200 = 600 {cm}^{2}

So, Area of shaded region is 600cm^2
