Answer:

Option (a).

Explanation:

Given : x^2 + 4y^2 + 4y - 4xy - 2x - 8.

= > x^2 + 4y^2 - 4xy - 2x + 4y - 8

= > (x^2 + 4y^2 - 4xy) - 2(x - 2y) - 8

= > (x - 2y)^2 - 2(x - 2y) - 8

= > (x - 2y)^2 - 4(x - 2y) + 2(x - 2y) - 8

= > (x - 2y)(x - 2y - 4)+ 2(x - 2y - 4)

= > (x - 2y + 2)(x - 2y - 4)

Hope this helps!

x² + 4y² + 4y - 4xy - 2x - 8

=> x² + 4y² - 4xy -2x + 4y - 8

=> x² + (2y)² - 2(2xy) - 2(x - 2y) -8

=> (x - 2y)² - 2(x - 2y) - 8

Then, let (x - 2y) = a

=> a² - 2a - 8

=> a² - (4 - 2)a - 8

=> a² - 4a + 2a - 8

=> a(a - 4) + 2(a - 4)

=> (a - 4)( a + 2)

Putting the value of a,

=> (x - 2y - 4)(x - 2y + 2)

Option 'a' is correct

I hope this will help you
