ANSWER:

k = ±10

EXPLANATION:

For sake of convenience, I'm representing alpha as (å) and beta as (ß).

A/Q,

å/ß = ⅔

=> å = ⅔ × ß ___(1)

p(x) = 3x² + kx + 8

Thus,

å·ß = 8/3

=> ⅔ × ß × ß = 8/3

{From equation (1)}

=> ß² = 8×3 / 3×2

=> ß² = 4

=> ß = ±2

Putting values of (ß) in equation (1),

å = ⅔ × 2 OR å = ⅔ × (–2)

=> å = 4/3 OR å = (–4/3)

And,

å + ß = –k/3

=> 4/3 + 2 = –k/3 OR –4/3 – 2 = –k/3

=> 10/3 = –k/3 OR –10/3 = –k/3

=> k = –10 OR k = 10

Hence, k = ±10.

Hope this helped!
