Answer:

A.) Ta/Tb = 3:1

Explanation:

Hello friend,

According to the figure,

the 10 kg block will accelerate downwards

since string is different so tension will also different

now,

let the tension in block A be Ta and

tension in blo k B be Tb

and by the free body diagram

we have,

Ta = 3a ..... (1)

Tb = a .... (2)

10g - (Ta + tb) = 10a

= 10g - Ta - Tb = 10a ....(3)

adding all the equations

we will get,

10a = 10g

a = g

now,

from (1)

Ta = 3a

so,

Ta = 3g

from (2),

Tb = a

so,

Tb = g

now,

to find,

Ta/Tb

= 3g/g

= 3/1

Ta/Tb = 3:1

so,

Correct option : A.) Ta/Tb = 3:1

Extra informations :

  • Tension changes with string.
  • On a frictionless surface only tension of the spring provides acceleration.
  • Tension will always outside the body.

from (2),

Tb = a

so,

Tb = g
