Answer:

i)Distance:1700m

ii)Displacement:700m

Explanation:

We know that distance is the total path covered. So when we go from school to home we cover 500m and then we go from home to library and cover 1200m more.So the total distance covered is 1200m+500m=1700m.

We know that displacement is the shortest distance from the initial and final point. So here the initial point is the school which is 700m away from the final point (that is the library). So the displacement is 700m.

Answer:

(i) 1700 m

(ii) 700 m

Explanation:

the distance between school and home is 500m and the distance between home and library is 1200 m .

so ATQ,

(i) The dist travelled will be from school to home then from home to library which is

500+1200=1700 m.

(ii) the displacement will be equal to the distance between initial and final position.

initial position= from where boy start that is SCHOOL.

Final position = where the boy stops that is LIBRARY.

therefore the displacement will be distance between school and library.

therefore the answer will be 1200 -500 =700 m

I have explained as much as I can so that you will understand.
