1. Inland alluvial soil

It is present inland in the river basins. e.g.; Ganga- Brahmaputra river basin and Indus basin. It is rich in humus and is more fertile.

2. Laterite

The Laterite soil develops in the areas with high temperature and heavy rainfall. This soil is highly leached due to heavy rains. The humus content of laterite soil is low as most of the microorganisms, particularly the decomposers, like bacteria, get destroyed due to high temperature.

3. Loamy soils

Loam is soil made with a balance of the three main types of soil: sand, silt, and clay soil. As a general rule, loam soil should consist of equal parts of all three soil types. This combination of soil types creates the perfect soil texture for plant growth.
