At height,the body has potential energy only which is due to height and rest.
P=mgh
During motion,the body has kinetic energy only when there's no height.
K=1/2 mv^2
We'll prove these result are equal by dimension analysis.
Case 1:At height,
[P]=[mgh]
=[(M)(LT^-2)(L)]
=[ML^2T^-2]
Case 2:Near ground,
[K]=[1/2mv^2]
=[mv^2]
=[(M)(LT^-1)^2]
=[ML^2T^-2]
Hence,By dimension analysis,
[P]=[K]
